Shri. Radha Mohan Singh, Hon’ble Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare visited ICAR-CIRCOT, Mumbai on 3rd July, 2016. Hon’ble minister visited various research facilities, nanocellulose pilot plant and the exhibition hall of the Institute. He showed keen interest in the institute activities. Dr.P.G.Patil, Director, ICAR-CIRCOT, welcomed the Hon’ble minister and briefed about the achievements of the Institute.
Hon’ble Minister Shri. Radha Mohan Singh addressed all the staff members and appreciated the achievements of the institute. He highlighted the establishment of Nanocellulose Pilot Plant, first of its kind in India and fifth in the World, which is the focus of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modiji’s Make in India Initiative and the promotion of Entrepreneurship and Skill development in Agriculture through Agri-business Incubation Centre.
Hon’ble Minister stressed that Skill Development programmes and the Research output of the institute should be beneficial to the farmers and emphasized that awareness about such activities should reach the stakeholders on real-time basis. He informed the gathering that prime importance need to be given to transfer the technologies from the Lab to Land.
Shri. Chhabilendra Roul, Additional Secretary DARE and Secretary, ICAR in his speech expressed that the institute should focus on developing frontier technologies and give prominence to technology commercialization.
Fourteen leaflets on the Skill Development programmes of the institute were released by the Hon’ble Minister.
Dr. S.N.Jha ADG (PE), ICAR, New Delhi and Directors of ICAR-CIFE, NRC Grapes and Directorate of Onion & Garlic were present on the occasion.
